Human Rights Celebration – Youth Council for Positive Development

The St. Louis Coalition for Human Rights in partnership with the Missouri History Museum held its annual Human Rights Celebration on December 10, 2014. The program recognized student essay contests winners, Unsung Heroes and Sheroes and engaged in the discussion theme, “Are Police Department Policies and Procedures in Violation of Citizens’ Human Rights?” For more photos, check out the Facebook page.

2014 Unsung Human Rights Sheroes and Heroes: Alexis Colbert, Denise Lieberman, Michael McPhearson and Elizabeth Vega.

Alexis Colbert won First Place in High School Category. She’s a senior at Carnahan High.

Nyssa Jones won First Place in the Middle School Category.
She attends Gateway Middle School.

Panels who addressed the theme were Rev. Mike Kinman, Brittany Ferrell and Jonathan Pulphus.
