The Youth Council for Positive Development (YCPD) was awarded the Social Action Grant of by the Midwest Sociological Society. The $1000 grant was recently accepted by Jamala Rogers, YCPD Director, and Jonathan Long at the Society’s conference in Kansas City, MO. The grant will be used for youth leadership development programs and to promote the Jamala Rogers Young Visionary Award, a scholarship dedicated to young people engaged in social justice work in their communities. Long is a 2011 recipient of the Visionary Award and a current YCPD board member.
