Jamala Rogers was politicized as a youth in the 1960’s. From a student activist in college, she went on to joining youth in organizing around issues that impact them. In the spirit of Ella Baker, Jamala has become a trusted elder among the next generation of young change agents. She has served in many capacities as a youth advocate from a classroom teacher to director of the Office of Youth Development (City of St. Louis). She been a key leader in advocating for the political rights and power of young people from the streets to the legislative halls.
