Antigone Chambers Reed (she/her) is the recipient of the 2020 Jamala Rogers Young Visionary Award. Antigone Chambers Reed is a poet and writer, actor, and human rights activist. Based in Saint Louis, she has lived in both Memphis and New Orleans. In her down-time, she enjoys cooking, film, and traveling. She performs poetry with Saint Louis Story Stitchers and acts with the Bread and Roses Workers Theater. In the summer you can catch Antigone teaching at various youth programs. Alongside this prestigious award, she is eagerly awaiting the launch of her third book, Chrysalis, which is available for preorder on June 15th. Her proposed project, Writing Through Trauma will give participants a safe space to process, heal, and share their lived experiences of trauma through learning writing skills. Congratulations!
