After a tumultuous year, the Organization for Black Struggle (OBS) and the Youth Council for Positive Development (YCPD) are proud to celebrate our 35th Anniversary. Thirty-five years is a long time to be in the fight for political empowerment, economic justice and cultural dignity. We invite you to join us as we mark this major milestone and confront the road ahead.
This year’s theme, “Ferguson & Beyond: Organizing & Agitating for Victory” will explore the state of the Black Liberation struggle in the wake of the recent police murders, and the subsequent militarized response to protests. We will also address our collective need to transform our current moment into a sustained and transformative movement.
Since it is such a special Anniversary, we have decided to really turn this event into a celebration. Throughout the night, we will have several live performances by some of St. Louis’ best artists. We will also recognize our many ally organizations that have stood with us over the years, and more recently in the last five months. OBS Chair, Montague Simmons, will deliver the keynote address.
The celebration will be held Saturday, January 31st at 4pm
